Skype Improvements
I’ve been following an array of improvements that have been made to Skype over the last month or so as well as future developments Skype is working on. A couple neat things they have done are allowing Skype users to pay to have voicemail and non-computer users to have a virtual number with Skype that they can use to contact other people using Skype. Skype is also working on mobile versions of their software that will operate on platforms like Symbian, Windows Mobile and Embedded Linux. They are also looking the dual wireless handset market phones that use cellular type wireless but also wireless VoiceOverIP. Another neat feature that the company has added is the ability for users to keep a global list of contacts on their server. I’ve been wanting this for a while. Particularly since my AIM account knows who everyone is that I talk to! I Skype at both home and work and it is a pain to add people to both places. I downloaded the new version at work but still have to load it on the Mac at home. However, it will certainly make my life easier!
