A Week of Code

This week I attend code4lib and the drupalib unconference. It was great to get away from the office and participate in highly technical discussions and dig my fingers into code. I wish sometimes that I had more time to spend on working on seriously technical stuff. I’m amazed by what some of my colleagues like Ross Singer and Bess Sadler are doing.

drupalib was also great. I had a chance to talk to the folks from CraftySpace. It was very helpful to talk to people who are more involved in the larger Drupal community. Partially because they have more knowledge, but also because the know other community members and can provide a sense of which modules and module developers are more reliable. The turnout for drupalib was astounding. I really didn’t expect we’d get so many participants on such short notice. But we did and I think people learned a lot. John Blyberg and the rest of the Darien library crew were fabulous hosts and what an awesome facility they have. I was particularly jealous of their technology room.

All in all the week was a chance to refresh and learn new things. I’m so glad I was able to attend both events, but my brain is full and I’ll be really glad to get home tomorrow.

Hey, Karen. Thanks for an awesome idea for the Drupal4Lib Camp and, as always, for your excellent contributions to Code4Lib. I get a lot out of your presentations.

    Hi Karen,

I enjoyed talking with you as well. I plan on posting a list of modules that CraftySpace has vetted for use on YourLibrarySite.com. I will let you know when it is available (sometime after DrupalCon), if you think it might be useful.
