On Being Named and LJ Mover & Shaker
Most of you probably know as of yesterday that I’m one of this year’s LJ Mover and Shakers. Its sort of surreal honor right now. In the last 48 hours, I’ve been bombarded with congratulations from my peers, that combined with being named itself is rather humbling. I’m so grateful that I get to play with cool stuff, meet people, teach them new things, and implement change as part of my job. I often pinch myself that this is REALLY what I get to do. I’m so excited that Jason and I are getting honored together because my collaborations with him have been some of the best times of my career. I’m also psyched to be on a list with peers that I truly admire like Sarah Houghton-Jan, Michael Porter, Dorothea Salo, Chad Boeninger, Lauren Pressley, Jenica P. Rogers-Urbanek, Dave Pattern and “the Dutch boys”.
At the same time, I think “gosh there are so many other talented folks I’ve had the privilege of working with that haven’t been honored, why me?” I’m not sure I know the answer to that question, but honestly my success has been directly the result of great partnerships, peers, and mentors. I’m not sure I can properly knowledge those folks here without sounding like I’m giving an Oscar acceptance speech. So I’ll simply say that it has been a privilege to work with and continue to work with so many great people. I hope to see several of you on LJ’s list in the future, you do good works and deserve to be honored too!
