21st Century Librarianship Award(s)
May 6th, 2004 by Karen
The 21st Century Librarianship award(s) sponsored by the Syracuse University School of Information Studies were announced today. This year's winners are:
Yongyi Song, East Asian librarian and a leading bibliographer at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania is the recipient of the Fourth Annual 21st Century National Librarian Award.
Gary Roberts, Information Systems Librarian at Herrick Memorial Library at Alfred University is the recipient of the second 21st Century New Librarian Award.
I am very excited to see that Gary won the New Librarian award. I met him at Computers in Libraries two years ago and was impressed with his level of technical knowledge, willingness to try new things, and creative abilities. It was nice to meet another “techie” librarian working in a smaller library, trying to fully-utilize technology in that setting.
We had lunch again this spring and talked about “new stuff” (RSS, ALEPH, SFX) and on going projects neither us us realizing that we have both been nominated for the 21st century “New Librarian” award.
Congrats Gary and best wishes!
