Can one be too popular?
Remember a while back I posted about newsreaders
being site bandwidth hogs? Well, much to both my glee and
consternation Library Web Chic has grown to the point of eating up enough
bandwidth that I may have to either pay or move to another home. Much of this is
due to the RSS feed, which is to put it gently “getting the crap kicked out of
it”. So, I have taken measures to try to keep my site at its current home. The
most important of these was changing the SkipHours values on my RSS feed. I have
increased the number of SkipHours in the hopes that this will reduce the
bandwidth the site is eating. I don't post every second and have them set to
“low posting times”. So, here's hoping.
If this doesn't work, a plea for someone to baby-sit me
through a migration to PHP will be forthcoming. While I have always wanted to
improve my PHP skills, I was hoping that it wouldn't be a “crisis learning”
scenario. Additionally, having to deal with this is slowing down my other “free
time” projects. Namely my Radio replacement project, which I started in ASP just
for little old me. I should just do it in PHP and open source it, but that would
require greater PHP skills than I possess. Anybody out there with PHP skills,
free time, and feeling generous want to collaborate? If so email
me.
