RSS and XML Fun

RSS and XML Fun
So I've been having a blast this week working on
writing a bunch of stuff to work with the XML produced from our
catalog. Thank you Owen for
giving me some great examples to start from! I've been working on three
different things. However, the one I have gotten the furthest on is a
script that will pull the books a user has checked out as an RSS
feed.
As mention by Jenny at The Shifted Librarian this isn't a new idea Peter Rukavina
wrote something similar but mine
is keyed to our system. Plus, I'm working on making it so it won't tell
you what the URL for your
RSS feed of checked out books is unless you authenticate. (That makes
me feel a little bit better about security/privacy issues). I hope to
have it up and running before the end of the week, but that will depend
on me getting the authentication piece done, which of course is
dependant on my “spare time” at work.
When I get this done I'll
see if I can get my new books RSS feed written .That project is alot
bigger and more intimidating though. Ironically it isn't the XML that's
the difficulty its getting a search that actually pulls new books. Ah
well, there's always something to do.
