Digital Camera Excitement
I got my first digital camera when I was in California for Internet
Librarian in November, so that I could take pictures on my trip. Some
of you may have seen some of the pics I posted here or on Pbase.
I don't own a photo printer because use most of what I take on the web
(work has a digital camera I've used before for this purpose). I wanted
to put
together an album to show my family at Christmas. They haven't really
crossed into the realm of completely digital yet. Plus I like putting
all my trip stuff which is more than photos together. So, this
weekend I took the best of my pictures to be printed.
Initially, I was skeptical if this was going to be
worth my time/money. I worried that the quality of the prints would just make it not
worth it. My fears were completely unfounded. I got my set of 4×6
prints back and they look great! I can't wait to put them in my
scrapbook with all my other stuff from California (postcards,
brochures, etc.).
The best part of the whole experience was how easy it was. The
most difficult part was cropping things the right size, but with some
basic instruction from my photographer friend I was able to do that.
Then I just took what I wanted printed on a CD to the store and had
them made up. The store also took a variety of types of camera memory.
They did not, however, take a USB flash key which kind of annoyed me
because that is my preferred method for moving stuff around. If you
have a digital camera and have never actually had prints made. I
reccomend you try it. I own a 4 megapixel camera and the 4×6 prints
were great. Supposedly I can make equal quality prints up to 8×10, but
I haven't done that yet. That will me my next digital camera adventure!
