Happy Vendor Experience

Happy Vendor Experience

I'm been working on trying to get the data generated by our OpenURL
resolver and our online list of periodical holdings to be in sync with
one another. The reason I need to do this is that we use SFX for our
OpenURL resolver and have been using data from Serials Solutions to
create our list of periodical holdings (why exactly we use both is a my
longer post). I realized this week that we were missing a bunch of
journal titles that we have access to via our SUNYConnect agreement
with ScienceDirect. In order to get these journals added to the list I
contacted Serial Solutions with a list of journals to add. This morning
I got an email from SS telling me that the SUNY Office of Library and
Information Services had recently sent them and updated list for the
same purposes.

My first thought was “Yeah OLIS! Thank you for your attention to
detail and remembering that this list of titles effects more than SFX.”
My second thought was “Yeah Serial Solutions for catching the fact that
there was a better solution to my problem.” The OLIS data is newer than
list I cobbled together and sent. So nice to have a vendor that is trying to help keep you on top of things!
