DSpace and OpenURL

DSpace and OpenURL
Today I spent the majority of the day working on getting our OpenURL
resolver to work with the SUNY instance of DSpace. The SUNY Office of
Library and Information Services has made about three hundred titles
from SUNY Press available to all the SUNY campuses via DSpace. In order
to link to these titles via our OpenURL resolver I needed to create a
target for the SUNY instance of DSpace. Ironically the most difficult
part of this process was inputting the ISBNs for the various titles.
The only other part that needed configuration was the URL to which the
ISBNs should be submitted. Figuring this out took some time but it
wasn't bad either. So now we have links to the fulltext for these books
which will appear both in our catalog and WorldCat. My next step is to
work on creating targets for some other available full-text of books. I
hope that this is just as simple.
