Dave “tagged” me but its taken me a while to answer. (
Read the previous post and you’ll know why)
Total volume of music on my Mac:
- 7-8 Gbs worth… most of it is CDs I own that I’ve made into MP3s since I got my iPod
Last CD I bought:
- Lost in Space by Aimee Mann
Last song bought on itunes:
- 100 Years - Five for Fighting
Song playing right now:
Last Dance - Sarah McLachan
Five songs/CDs I listen to a lot:
- A Sorta Fairytale - Tori Amos - Something about the Scarlet’s Walk album speaks to me. There are some really thoughtful and reflective songs on this album. This is a catchy but neat tune.
- Grey Street - Dave Matthews Band - Busted Stuff is one of my favorite DMB albums, even if the themes aren’t light. I like what these songs have to say.
- Movement 1 of Symphony #3- Henryk Gorecki - I love this whole symphony. The recording I have is Dawn Upshaw with the London Symphony and there is just something really moving about this piece
- Stuck in the Moment - Victoria Vox - this artist came and played in a cafe in Binghamton and I’ve been hooked on her stuff since.
- Neon - John Mayer - The acoustic version of this song is much better than the one on Room for Squares. If you want to know why people like John Mayer get an acoustic album.
Five songs that mean a lot to me:
- 10,000 Stones - Adrianne - A great song about learning from mistakes, the places they take you, and living your life to the fullest
- La cathedrale engloutie - by Claude Debussy, performed by Maurizo Pollini - The story of this song is supposed to be a Sunken Cathedral magically slowly rising up out of the ocean. My mom had this picture (from when she travelled in Europe) of this monastery on a island off the coast of France . When I listen to this song I think of her.
- Quarry Weave - Meredith Monk - I performed this piece as part of Women’s Choir in College. I’ve loved it ever since. It is canonic in nature and has a great rhythm and flow to it.
- Slumber My Darling - by Edgar Meyer & Stephen Foster Performed by Alison Krauss, Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, Mark O’Connor, Joshua Bell, Mike Marshall & Sam Bush - a beautiful sweet piece that is a great example of American folk music.
- Bullet with Butterfly Wings - Smashing Pumpkins - Its silly to pick this one as meaningful. However, this is my favorite “I need to work out some frustrations” song. I love to crank it when a coding project is not going well and throw my bouncy ball at the office floor or wall until I work out the issues.
First concert I ever attended:
- Loreena McKennitt at the Chicago Theater (she rarely performs in the US and my husband took me for my birthday)
Tag three people:
- Sherri at ::schwagbag::
- Michael at Travelin Librarian
- Andrea at Library Techtonics
