Small Victories
Nov 28th, 2005 by Karen
Today we got Coldfusion successfully installed on the production Linux server that is going to run our Movable Type weblogs. My team has spent quite a bit of time trying to get this set up properly and just before Thanksgiving they were finally successfully. I’m more than thrilled that not only can we get this working but that we can replicate it on multiple boxes. I actually did the install on the production weblogs box! This accomplishment makes some of the steps we will be taking in the near future a lot easier. One of the most important of these is converting our Windows/Apache/Coldfusion webservers to Linux/Apache/Coldfusion webservers. Granted our backend databases will still me Microsoft SQL servers, but for me this is a step in the right direction towards a more open source oriented operation. Additionally, because we are implementing MovableType we are getting a lot more experience with MySQL. Something that my team has relatively little experience with. Luckily I have plenty of experience dealing with writing SQL statements from scratch and a really good MySQL book. As I said its a step in the right directions and I’ll take all the small victories I can get right now!
