Off to ALA Midwinter
This weekend I’m off to ALA Midwinter. I haven’t been to an ALA conference since I was a library school student and I’d forgetten just how gosh darn big it is and how difficult it can be to find stuff because session are spread out across multiple hotels and the convention center. The ironic things is that Midwinter is small compared to Annual. This is probably one of the reasons that I was daunted by the whole thing as a library school student. It also didn’t help that I was job hunting at the time and was very concerned about being late for my interviews. Consequently I spent most of my first ALA in one place, the convention center.
This time there is even more to see and do and I need to make the most of my time. So, my game plan for dealing with this time is to make a firm plan of what I want to go to and go to that, remembering of course to leave plenty of time between sessions for getting from one place to another. Hopefully, things will work out but only time will tell.
