Upgraded to Wordpress 2.01
Feb 5th, 2006 by Karen
I spent this morning doing the upgrade from Wordpress 2.0 to 2.01 . Overall I haven’t noticed any significant differences yet, but I’m glad that I got the job done because the upgrade fixed a bunch of bugs in 2.0. I used to wait quite a while before doing these upgrades. Mostly because I didn’t know what I was doing in terms of performing the upgrade. Backing up my data was a particular problem. Since working at UH though I’ve become much more savvy about Linux, MySQL and PHP. Which means that I’m more confidant doing my own upgrades and I don’t ask Blake at LISHost to do them for me anymore. Its nice to be self-sufficient. For other librarian bloggers at LISHost who might want to be more self-sufficient, drop me a note and I’d be happy to offer some points. Doing the upgrades to Wordpress isn’t that difficult and upgrading regularly give you access to new tools and fixes bugs.

I just upgraded this weekend as well. I used the db backup plug in linked near the top of this page (the codex.wordpress site isn’t responding now or I’d link directly) and it was slow but ultimately simple.
