Panic's Transmit is just a great FTP/SFTP program for the Mac. Not free and no open source, but absolutely worth your money!

I SFTP and SCP from the command line on the Mac, but for people who are less comfortable in the command line, these two GUI clients are good alternatives.

If you're comfortable with command lines, you should check the Mac again. I suspect that, since Mac OS-X is 'just' Unix, that if you open a terminal window and type 'sftp', that you'll find that an sftp/ssh client ships withe the base OS.
