More Connections at CIL 2006

The best thing about Computers in Libraries is the ability to meet and talk to new people. Already I’ve subscribe to a couple new blogs by librarians I met at the conference. Plus, I’m collaborating on a future pre/post conference with Jason A. Clark from Montana State University. He and I have similar interests in Ajax and web services.
I understand the technology in theory, but it is great to meet someone who knows a bit more about it and is doing something useful with it. I’m hoping that he might be able to give me a few pointers as I work on some Ajax stuff for our new CMS and website.
I also have been thinking about how I might use the Google API to get links to OpenWorldCat into my blog more easily. Right now I keep a tab permanently open for OpenWorldCat searching when I’m blogging. This way I can add links to books into my posts. It works but I wish it was more convienient. Maybe I can find a few minutes to work on such stuff. That is after I get out from under the mountain of work that is piling up while I am at CIL.
