I’ve posted before about the problems I see in attracting and keeping women in systems librarianship. For me this scholarship is a great way to help women make their way in the field. If you want to attend code4lib and don’t have the support you need, please apply. It is a great conference and an opportunity to meet folks doing truly innovative things. The contact you will make will help tremendously in your job. I can’t even quantify how much meeting Terry, Jeremy, Dan, Ross, Mark, Kevin, and many more has helped me in my job the last year.
Via code4lib, Access and other conferences I’ve also met (in person and/or virtually) Bess, Winona, Dorothea, Meredith, and Colleen : women actively involved in systems librarianship and technology in libraries. It warms my heart beyond words to see the awesome things some of my female peers are working on. Get the scholarship, come to conference and let me intro you to the folks I know. You won’t regret it I promise.
