Arrived in Monterey for IL 2007
Oct 27th, 2007 by Karen
After a long day of travel Friday, I arrived safely in Monterey for Internet Librarian. I’m co-teaching a preconference workshop on Saturday again this year and then co-presenting a session with Michelle Boule on Tuesday.
There is something great about Internet Librarian that always keeps bringing me back to this conference even though there are lots of other conference that challenge my brain more. I’ll admit part of it is the location, but I also enjoy the chance to interact with colleagues at this conference probably more than any other conference save code4lib.
As I’ve said before I learn the most from these one on ones. I think in some ways my colleagues get the best of me in these interactions as well. Much of this is that in a one-on-one interaction you can talk to that person’s level of expertise and expectations, whereas in a session you have lots of different levels of expertise and expectations to meet. Which is why sometimes sessions are a disappointment to me, because I’m at a very different level and place in my career from other participants.
Still I’m psyched about the conference and having the whole day Sunday to hang out with a former colleague and enjoy photographing views like this.
