code4lib preconf day
Feb 26th, 2008 by Karen
The preconferences at code4lib today were really interesting. The day started out with the Evergreen preconf. Unfortunately, I didn’t come completely prepared so I spent most of my time doing tasks I was suppose to perform before the preconference. Consequently I was only able to get partially through the install process. I got stuck on the ejabberd portion of the install. I couldn’t get ejabberd properly restarted. So I’ll have to try to ask the folks teaching the preconference where I went wrong.
The second preconference was LibraryFind. Since UH is running LibraryFind already I spent most of the time listening and writing down questions and comments to ask Terry and Jeremy after the preconference. The preconference was my first chance to see the latest version and the included improvements to LibraryFind. Terry Reese covered how to install LibraryFind. Also, Tami Herlocker’s presentation on customizing the LibraryFind interface was helpful in understanding which files make up different portions of the LibraryFind screen.
I also took some time to visit the mini “unconference” which Dan Chudnov was running today. There were some interesting topics discussed and demos shown included but were not limited to:
There is also a more robust unconference summary if you want to check it out.
